Jenene Freer

Jenene’s business ownership journey began 11 years ago when aged 21 she launched online magazine nzgirl into the New Zealand market.

Within less than a decade, nzgirl established itself as the leading online women’s lifestyle destination with a string of international awards in its wake – including a Gold Lion from the famous international Cannes Advertising Show, Best in Show at the Asia Pacific Adfest and a slew of awards in NZ and Australia.  nzgirl is now considered one of New Zealand’s most well known and successful online publications and a pioneer of peer to peer marketing.

With the same entrepreneurial spirit that allowed nzgirl to punch above its weight; in 2007 Jenene launched Flossie Media Group into New Zealand and then Australia.  Flossie.com became a female centric ad network representing over 50 websites and reaching well over one million women and was considered one of the most powerful ways to communicate with women online in New Zealand and Australia.

In late 2009 Jenene recognised the demand for self service performance based media and restructured the Flossie Media Group business to focus on one-to-one communications.  Then, in February 2010, she merged the business with email software specialists, Digital Dialogue and together they launched Actual Dialogue – an email communications company with two core products, Actual Mail and Actual Ads.  The launch of these two products will see a global first – an email platform that can be used to drive segmented, self-service performance media.

On a day to day basis, Jenene runs a private brand, business and digital consultancy – http://www.jenenefreer.com

A natural born entrepreneur, Jenene’s drive, determination and passion have seen her recognized as a digital industry leader and a finalist for both the New Zealand Marketer of the Year and the international Veuve Clicquot Award.   Her business skills have attracted high profile investment from Movac (the original investors in Trade Me) and Lloyd Morrison (Infratil) and media coverage from all around the world.

Jenene has been on the Board of Youthline, Workchoice Trust and is one of the key faces of the Unitec Master of Entrepreneurship.  She guest lectures and consults within corporate organizations, business networks, universities and high schools throughout New Zealand and Australia on digital strategy, social media & marketing, business and believing in what you can achieve.
