What funding is available for my business?

For a country strong in entrepreneurial spirit and innovation, we are fortunate that there is a significant range of funds, subsidies and grants available to help Kiwi businesses.

There are a number of government departments designed to cover a spectrum of funding purposes – from developing a new idea to helping established businesses. There is also sector-specific funding available, such as from Creative NZ and SPARC.

For start-up or early stage businesses with high-growth potential, business incubators can assist with everything from premises to business mentoring. In addition, they have access to investor, market and international networks.

There are also a number of business scholarships that have been established to encourage entrepreneurship – such as the Launch Pad initiative that MYOB sponsored earlier this year.

Your regional Employers’ Chamber of Commerce will have information on available funding, relevant to your business. Also, spend time researching online – if it means that you receive a slice of the funding pie, the time and effort will be worth it.
